Our Nation is wounded and sadness fills my heart. I think of my uncle who died fighting the Germans. I think of my father who fought the Japanese, the Koreans, the Vietnamese, and am reminded of a funny war story he once told. While manning a forward observer post he came face to face with a wide eyed North Korean infantryman who stumbled into his position. There my dad was, miles ahead of his unit, standing face to face with an enemy soldier who was just as scared as he was. Unable to communicate, the North Korean dropped his weapon as my father gestured an offering of food. The entire exchange only lasted a few minutes before the North Korean slipped back into the shadows. After the armistice, my dad wondered about the man he had met that day, and what he must have thought about the towering American making funny noises while pointing to food. But the story speaks a certain truth about men who harbor no ill will towards one another but for their sworn military service, as our government decides what is evil, and what is worth fighting for. North Koreans are not evil. But their government is. And that is why we fight.
Tears don't come easy for me. And rarely have I shed tears of the heart. And never, until now, have I shed tears of the heart for our founding fathers, and for all Americans who have died in the name of FREEDOM.
Our President has sold out their honor and the ultimate sacrifice they gave for this nation;
"We do not consider ourselves a Christian Nation": Tell that to the rows of crosses in our national cemetery's, the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, and the countless American Cemeteries scattered throughout Europe and the Pacific.
America has "shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive" towards its allies: Tell that to the French citizens awaiting anxiously for D-Day. Tell that to British citizens taking shelter as bombs fell on London. Tell that to every European country enslaved by Nazi rule. Tell that to Kuwaiti citizens, and every other global citizen freed by Americans.
America has "failed to appreciate Europe's leading role in the world": Tell that to Neville Chamberlain who proclaimed "peace in our time" after signing the Munich Pact in 1938, to avoid war at all costs.
U.S. President bows to Saudi King: Tell that to our founding fathers, who rose up against a tyrannical King proclaiming that "All Men Are Created Equal". And tell that to the victims of 9/11 who were murdered at the hands of Saudi citizens.
U.S. citizens can now be held for ransom by Somali Pirates: Tell that to President Thomas Jefferson who ordered the U.S. Navy into the Barbary Coast War to end piracy. In the decades leading up to this, Congress allocated money to pay the Barbary pirates and to negotiate shipping protection with them. But it wasn't enough money. In 1786, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams went to negotiate with Tripoli's envoy to London, Ambassador Sidi Haji Abdrahaman. The ambassador said; "It was written in their Koran, that all nations which had not acknowledged the Prophet were sinners, whom it was the right and duty of the faithful to plunder and enslave; and that every Muslim who was slain in this warfare was sure to go to paradise. He said, also, that the man who was the first to board a vessel had one slave over and above his share, and that when they sprang to the deck of an enemy's ship, every sailor held a dagger in each hand and a third in his mouth; which usually struck such terror into the foe that they cried out for quarter at once."
The U.S. response was to pay 1 million per year for protection for 15 years thereafter. Jefferson stopped the lunacy and battled the Barbary pirates.
History is ripe with good fighting evil, freedom fighting oppression, right fighting wrong, and religions fighting religions. And it is sad that our President cannot discern between the two.
Our President is pursuing global appeasement and apologizing for America. I have one response to that: His America is not my America. My America is full of patriots and hero's, and is a very proud place to be. On behalf of every one of them, We Are A Christian Nation.
A Christian Nation that has accepted every religion under the sun within it's borders. A place where all men are equal. And until you can show me one Muslim nation that has done that, shut up President Obama. Just shut up.
